About The Lioness
The Lioness was founded by Elsa van Latum — teacher, medicine woman, voice worker and facilitator. Her work is deeply holistic, integrating somatic practice, vocal empowerment, social awareness and ritual.
At the heart of her work lies a simple but profound belief: that authentic expression and belonging are inseparable. When we have the inner and outer space to express freely, we connect more deeply — to ourselves and to the world around us. That deeper sense of belonging, in turn, creates the trust that makes true expression possible. This spiral is what Elsa's work moves through and towards.
Elsa's path has been shaped by many traditions, places and phases of life. Having lived, worked and studied across six countries, she moves naturally between cultures, languages and ways of knowing. This lifelong curiosity about expression — vocal, physical, cultural — has made her a bridge between worlds.
Her practice is rooted in hatha yoga, South-American shamanism, and sociology. Plant medicine entered her life in 2018 while living in Colombia, where she began offering her voice in ceremonial spaces — singing, holding space, and interpreting between cultures. Since 2021, she has rooted herself back in her hometown of Amsterdam.
Those who work with Elsa often find that they become more curious towards life. Deeper connection to what is, a sense of gratitude, joy. Grounded enough to be fully themselves. From there, expression can flow freely.
Elsa brings to every space the same qualities she brings to her own practice: commitment, discipline, and a presence shaped by never-ending curiosity towards life. Her medicine is remembrance: of our innate wisdom, of the story we came here to tell, of the aliveness that is always already here.
